Want to hear a secret?

Global Goals , Leadership

Here at Girl Up we have a secret. And while we really really want to tell you, we can’t….

Yet. Not until World Refugee Day, which is Monday, June 20.

But since you’re here, and you’re reading this, we’ll give you a hint. Girl Up is expanding into another country!

As you know, about a year ago Girl Up added India as our newest focus country. It joined Guatemala, Ethiopia, Liberia, and Malawi as countries where Girl Up is supporting UN programs that help the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.

Now we’re poised to do it again. Since 2010, Girl Up has partnered with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Ethiopia, supporting their work to create safe schools and provide educational support for displaced Somali girls. We have been so thrilled with the results of that partnership, that we are expanding our support to another country.

So here’s how to get the details:

1. Set a reminder for World Refugee Day (June 20). Seriously- put it on your calendar, set an alarm, leave it on post-it notes all over your bathroom mirror. Whatever’s going to help you remember.

2. On Monday- World Refugee Day- logon to GirlUp.org and read all about our newest country.

3. Shout the good news from the rooftops! Share it online and tell all of your friends.

World Refugee Day is a time when the world comes together to commemorate the strength, courage, and resilience of millions of refugees. So visit us at
GirlUp.org on June 20 to hear our great news and join us as we support our UN partners in standing #WithRefugees.
