What is Team Girl Up?

Team Girl Up is a running program all about girls’ empowerment. We recruit runners for marathons and half-marathons to raise funds that help adolescent girls around the world reach their full potential. Runners for Team Girl Up know that girls everywhere are powerful, and they are committed to helping the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl. All fitness levels are welcome with our program, and many participants are first-time marathon runners. Our resources and coaches will help make your race day a success.

What are the requirements to participate?

Members of Team Girl Up are required to:

  • Complete registration for an upcoming race as an official Team Girl Up runner
  • Commit to raise the amount of money specified for your race, even if you cannot complete the race due to injury. Runners have until one month after race day to meet their commitment.
  • Participate in Team Girl Up training and race-weekend activities, when desired.

2018 Marine Corps Marathon & 10K

(October 28, 2018) Get free, guaranteed entry in this sold-out race! Recognized for impeccable organization on a scenic course managed by the US Marines in Arlington, VA and the nation’s capital, the Marine Corps Marathon is one of the largest marathons in the US and the world. Known as ‘the best marathon for beginners,’ the MCM is the largest marathon in the world that doesn’t offer prize money, earning its nickname, “The People’s Marathon.” Run for Girl Up in the 2018 MCM for a fundraising minimum of $1,000 or in the MCM 10K for a fundraising minimum of $500.

2018 BMW Berlin Marathon 

(September 16, 2018) RACE ENTRIES SOLD OUT! The Berlin Marathon is one of the largest and most popular races in the world, with runners from 122 countries and more than one million spectators. Originally run only in West Berlin, when the German city was divided, the fast and flat course now weaves back and forth across the former wall, and ends with all racers passing through Brandenburg Gate. Runners who have already secured their own race entry can still join our team.

2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon 

(October 7, 2018) SOLD OUT! Travel through 27 neighborhoods on a flat and fast course that starts and finishes in Grant Park, taking you through one of the world’s most magnificent cities. Runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries enjoy the support of 1.7 million spectators at this elite race—a favorite among endurance runners. (November 4, 2018) RACE ENTRIES SOLD OUT! The world-famous premier event of New York Road Runners takes runners through the five boroughs of New York City. Led by a talent-packed roster of American and international elites, runners participate in the world’s biggest and most popular marathon, with more than 50,000 finishers in 2017! Runners who have already secured their own race entry can still join our team.
