Lace up your running shoes and grab your water bottle, it’s time to hit the track with Team Girl Up!

Team Girl Up rocked the ASICS LA Marathon in March, and now we have our sights set on the 2015 GORE-TEX Philadelphia Marathon. The race is scheduled for November 22, and we are recruiting runners for both the half-marathon and the marathon.

So what exactly is Team Girl Up?

Team Girl Up is a running program all about girls’ empowerment. We recruit runners for marathons and half-marathons to raise funds that help adolescent girls around the world. Our runners know that girls everywhere are powerful, and they are committed to helping the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.

Monique Coleman – a Girl Up champion and one of our LA runners – described her experience by saying, “the excitement I felt crossing the finish line… was indescribable. Every step of my journey was for the courageous girls around the world who face struggles far greater.”

Not a runner? Not a problem!

With Team Girl Up, we want to make it fun and easy for everyone to participate. That’s why members receive a number of special benefits including a 4-month training plan, weekly tips, a fundraising guide, volunteer-led training runs, and – of course – awesome Team Girl Up swag.

If you’re thinking, “sounds great, sign me up” here’s what we need you to do:

  1. Register as a member of Team Girl Up. We ask Team Girl Up members to commit to raise at least $750 for a half-marathon, $850 for a full marathon. Don’t worry- we’re going to give you the tools you need to successfully fundraise.
  2. Register for the race. Once you register, Team Girl Up will email you a special code you can use to register for the race. Since you’re fundraising to help girls around the world, we’ll take care of the race fee!
  3. Have a blast. Our LA runners had a fantastic time, and we’re pretty confident you will too. Participate in the events leading up to the race, get to know your fellow Team Girl Up runners, and join in the race-weekend activities.

Hope to see you at the starting line!
