Ready to change the world?

As a group, we will take on the mission of Girl Up. We will empower others to get involved, teach our communities that girls matter and take action to change the future by supporting girls.

Starting today and continuing throughout the next year, our club will:

• Host five Girl Up activities.
• Set and deliver a GirlRaiser fundraising goal.
• Recruit new Girl Up supporters.
• Submit blog posts and club photos.
• Submit semester club reports.

Stand Against Child Marriage!

This month, we’re asking Girl Up Clubs to take a stand against child marriage.

Girl Up is mobilizing 500,000 girls to say I DO take a stand against child marriage by October 11, 2013 — International Day of the Girl. We need your help to reach that goal!

For the May club action, we need you to get as many people as possible to ask Congress to support important legislation that would increase U.S. support for programs that help prevent child marriage in developing countries.

There are a few ways you can do this:

• Direct people to http://www.girlup.org/learn/child-marriage.html to sign the online petition. Ask all your club members to sign the petition at your next club meeting (bring a laptop if needed).
• Print out the attached petition and circulate it in a club meeting or during class. You can also set up a table and ask fellow students to sign the petition between classes or at lunchtime.
• Then mail or email the forms back to Girl Up.

Email Julie to request Girl Up advocacy cards that you can hand out to your friends and family. Make sure to collect the completed cards and return them to Girl Up.
