
In 2000, leaders from 189 countries promised to end poverty by 2015.
OK, so they didn’t just promise, they signed on to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a set of eight goals designed to significantly reduce poverty through addressing global issues like child and maternal health, education, sanitation and access to water.
