On December 6, I had the amazing opportunity to speak at a Girl Up reception in Atlanta!

A special thanks to the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and the Atlanta Girls’ School for hosting us.

At the reception, more than 100 women and girls learned about what Girl Up is doing in developing countries to help girls reach their full potential, and what Girl Up is doing in the United States to mobilize American girls.

Gina and Dory from Girl Up gave an overview of how the campaign makes a difference, while I talked about being a teen advisor and my experience at the teen advisor meeting at the Unite for Girls Tour in San Francisco.

The Unite for Girls Tour will hopefully be coming to Atlanta in the spring, so keep an eye out for more information!

The energy in the room was amazing! Everyone was so interested in what Girl Up is doing to make a difference and what they could do to help. What was especially inspiring was the number of girls at the reception who wanted to start a Girl Up club in their own school.

There are already 49 clubs across the country, and we hope to have 100 clubs by the end of 2012. For more information about starting a club, click here.

The clubs are one of the most important parts of making Girl Up a “for girls, by girls,” campaign!

Girl Up is changing the lives of adolescent girls in developing countries. If you get involved in the campaign, your life will be transformed as well.
