(Clean & Clear Girl Up HERo Antonea Johnson at the United Nations.)
I had such a great experience in New York with United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign and Clean & Clear!
My day started out exciting and ended spectacular! When I arrived at the United Nation Foundation’s NY office for breakfast with Girl Up and Clean & Clear, I was greeted by a huge poster board and tons of smiling faces welcoming me and best friend!
I was then introduced to everyone, including a very extraordinary girl and Teen Advisor, Lucy! We had a wonderful breakfast prepared for us — little did I know my day was just beginning.
We had a full itinerary planned for the day. I met another Teen Advisor, Remy, and we all walked over to the United Nations and took pictures and videos outside the building.
We walked through security and even got cool tourist tags! The tour of the United Nation began when we got to sit through a meeting about cyber security.
I was always aware that cyber security was important, but it amazed me that our country and others felt so strongly about it also. After sitting through the meeting and learning a lot, we walked through some amazing sites.
My favorite place was where the tent was set up showing how people have to sleep with a net over their beds so that they don’t get malaria, and the Wall of Peace. We visited some more interesting places and then headed back to the United Nation Foundation.
When we got back we had lunch and heard great speakers tell us their stories and how they really love helping girls. I was amazed when Monique Coleman walked in the room!
I was freaking out on the inside, but keeping a calm face on the outside, ha! She told us about her journey around the world.
We got to ask her questions and she even asked US questions about our process of helping girls and why we are so involved!
Later, we took more pictures and chatted with everyone. Afterwards, I was interviewed by MTV about bullying and Girl Up!
I really had a great trip to New York, and having a day with Girl Up and Clean & Clear was just icing on a cake!

I know her! She goes to my school, and all she does is talk about Girl Up! Glad I know someone who wants to make a change!
