Girls are Rising!

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend an event at Sundance Film Festival this week.

Our partner 10x10 premiered the trailer for the film Girl Rising and showed one of the chapters – Senna from Peru! Also at the event Frieda Pinto spoke about a trip she took to Sierra Leone and the film’s producer and director shared a story about a girl named Wadley from Haiti.
Girl Rising opens in theaters across the country on the eve of International Women’s Day, March 7. Today, we want you to sign up to bring this important film to your town. Go to to sign up as a Gathr captain then go to work recruiting your friends and families to sign up for tickets, “tipping” the film and bringing it to your local theater.
Girl Up is so proud to be involved with this film, from Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins. Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Alicia Keys, Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington and other celebrated actresses contribute voice performances to the film, which features original music from Academy Award winner Rachel Portman, in collaboration with Hans Zimmer.
At Girl Up we know that girls are strong, but together we are stronger – so join us and let’s show our communities that girls are rising around the world.
