Girl Up and Caterpillar Ready to Build Roads to Progress

Michelle Sullivan, President of Caterpillar Foundation, presents check to Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of UN Foundation, and Girl Up Club leaders.

There’s a new company helping us to “pave the way” to better futures for girls in Liberia and around the world. And we want everyone to know about it.

We at Girl Up are excited to announce a new partnership with the Caterpillar Foundation to help Girl Up expand its impact. Today, Caterpillar Foundation presented the United Nations Foundation with a $1 million check. We feel like we’ve won the lottery with such a great partnership! This donation will build a broad partnership with the Foundation, primarily focused on supporting Girl Up and particularly its Liberia programs. These UN-supported programs focus on adolescent girls in seven communities in Gbarpolu and Montserrado counties and have reached more than 10,000 girls since 2011 through education, health, safety, and leadership initiatives.

But Girl Up wants to impact change for even more girls in Liberia. And our new partnership with Caterpillar Foundation is the perfect opportunity to help us increase our outreach. As a globally focused construction company, Caterpillar aims to build roads to progress (see what we did there?), and it believes that girls are the smartest investment to change communities and the world for the better. Caterpillar has a history of investing in education and poverty eradication. This partnership will focus their impact and help to make a difference in the lives of many more girls.

We at Girl Up are so happy to have the support of Caterpillar. Thank you for helping us impact change for girls!
