When you hear her name, you probably think of her in a glamorous dress at a movie premiere – or you think of her hunky partner Brad Pitt.

But when we hear Angelina Jolie, we think of a woman who is a tireless advocate on behalf of refugees all around the world.

Angelina Jolie has worked with UNHCR for more than a decade, going on more than 40 field visits to meet with internally displaced persons. She has released books and films that are inspired by her experiences, using her public profile to spotlight the issues refugees face.

In April 2012, after serving more than 10 years as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina was appointed Special Envoy of High Commissioner António Guterres! In her new role, her focus is on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people.

To add to her extensive collection of awards (ahem, an Academy Award and two Golden Globes, anyone?), Angelina has been recognized by various organizations for the important role she has played in facilitating solutions for people displaced by conflict.

We love that Angelina has used her celebrity to push people to take a more active role in the global community. Thanks, Angelina, for being such a fab female!
