On August 12, the global community rallies behind these words of the Secretary-General to celebrate International Youth Day—a day where the world turns its attention to the incredible potential of its youth and acknowledges the real impact that young people have already made in their communities. A day where the spotlight is on you! That’s right, this is your party. Here are some ways you can celebrate:
- Join the chat. Passionate about global health? Join Girl Up and Johnson & Johnson, Women Deliver, and Girls’ Globe for a 30-minute Twitter chat on the importance of youth voices in setting and achieving global health and development goals. Follow the hashtag #YouthVoices on Tuesday, August 12 at 1pm EST to ask questions, share your stories, and find out how you and your friends can work together to improve women and children’s health.
- Take a look. GenUN, a student initiative of UNA-USA that works to connect young people to the United Nations, has a new and improved online platform ready for you to explore! This site is all about taking action—check it out!
No one can attest to the power of young people like Girl Up. Whether it’s raising awareness, fundraising, or advocating, Girl Up knows that a smart and determined youth is unstoppable. You have a voice and you don’t have to wait to use it!
