Feb 13 by Imali Bandara
Your support can help support important work, such as our programs benefitting girls in Guatemala.
February may be the shortest month of the year, but there’s no shortage on things you can do to get involved. Here are some exciting ways for you to take action with Girl Up: running, filming, flashmobs (!!)—we’ve got it all!
- Rise against violence: Eve Ensler, global advocate for the end of gender-based violence, has called for the 1 Billion Rising global protest. On Valentine’s Day 2013, join with women and those who love them all over the world to rally against violence through flashmob protests in your local area. Dance, celebrate, and send out the call for an end to violence against women and girls.
- Run the #VDay10k: Girl Up is teaming up with Charity Miles app (for iPhone and Android) that tracks the distance you walk, run, or bike and raises money for causes. All you have to do is download the app and select Girl Up as your cause of choice, and your miles will be matched with donations to our campaign. You’ll be raising money without opening your wallet—just use your running shoes!
- Tell us what you think: Help us make the Girl Up campaign better by taking our annual survey. Five minutes of your time will help us shape our work around your interests and can change the lives of girls around the world!
However you choose to get involved, know that your actions will help girls in developing countries stay healthy, educated, safe, and empowered. Make this month count!
