A Royal Tea

(A fundraiser was held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey to benefit Girl Up with the help from a local chapter of a global women's organization called the Daughters of Penelope)

Last month the Girl Up Club from Westfield Friends School in Cinnaminson, New Jersey had an eventful day.

A fundraiser was held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey to benefit Girl Up with the help from a local chapter of a global women's organization called the Daughters of Penelope.

Instead of having a typical fundraiser, the Daughters, along with our GirlUp Club, hosted "A Royal Tea," which not only educated girls and women who were unfamiliar with Girl Up, but also helped to raise funds.

There were 300 people who attended the tea which featured a fashion show by Heirloom Designs that showcased gorgeous regal costumes to resemble what queens throughout the ages would have worn.

We were then treated to a beautiful 30-minute classical ballet performance by the Fleming Ballet Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We even had a Queen and a Princess open the event, accompanied by royal guards!

Our Girl Up Club helped to make decorations for the event (including hundreds of tissue paper flowers and painting champagne glasses), and we helped decorate the gym.

During the event we sold thank you cards that we designed and produced, and a variety of chocolate covered pretzels. We were able to donate $160 to Girl Up.

All in all, it was a fun day for everyone!
