The Women in the World Summit is certainly a star-studded event-- from Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, and Eva Longoria to Oprah, Susan Rice, and Hillary Clinton among many others. For me, the stars who shone brightest were the young women from all over the world who have educated themselves in order to educate their countrywomen.

The question I wanted to answer was, “what would it take for every girl in the world to be educated, safe, healthy, counted, and positioned to be a leader in her community?”

Recently, I had the opportunity to see President Sirleaf of Liberia speak at Columbia University (where I am a freshman) as part of our World Leaders Forum.

It was my first time in Chicago and I was excited to be in the Windy City with the rest of the Teen Advisors for Girl Up’s tour stop at The Chicago Theatre. We were there to discuss the child marriage. This event was something new that we’ve never tried before...
