We kicked off our Unite for Girls Tour and the national launch of Girl Up with an action-packed weekend in the Big Apple. It all started with a fabulous reception hosted by founding partner MTV Networks, attended by four of our Teen Advisors -- Jillian and Sydney Medina, Shannon McNamara, and Itzel Delgado – who won the crowd over with personal stories of why helping girls in developing countries is so important to them.
The next day was our first Pep Rally, hosted at the Vanderbilt YMCA. Hundreds of girls came to learn about the challenges girls in developing countries face and how they can give a High Five to change a life. Our special guests were Girl Up Champions Nigel Barker and Victoria Justice.

Girl Up was thrilled to join our Champion Ivanka Trump in New York at the launch of her new clothing line, Ivanka Trump Ready-to-Wear. Sitting on the edge of the runway for a sneak peek of this highly anticipated collection was a fashion lover’s dream come true! The warm spring colors and luxurious designs caught everyone's attention.
The first day of the Women in the World Summit was absolutely amazing. The day opened up with a haunting song by Suma from Nepal, a girl sold into indentured servitude by her family. Her story has been shared by 10x10, an organization which made a feature film profiling 10 girls in 10 countries, all with the message that educating girls in developing nations will change the world.
I had the incredible opportunity to attend the third annual “Women in the World – Stories & Solutions” event at the David H. Koch Theater at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
I had such a great experience in New York with United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign and Clean & Clear! My day started out exciting and ended spectacular!
