After our fabulous New York Pep Rally, we couldn’t wait to bring Girl Up to the West Coast, so in November, we jumped on a plane and headed out to Los Angeles! Our weekend began with a reception hosted by Variety magazine, and guests heard from Girl Up Champion Nigel Barker and American Idol contestant David Archuleta on why men and boys should unite for girls, too.
Our Pep Rally was hosted by the Marlborough School, a school within the National Coalition of Girls Schools, a Girl Up founding partner. More than 600 girls and boys from the area came to give a “High Five” to girls. And for an even more special day, they got to meet Girl Up Global Advocate and UN Foundation board member Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Girl Up Champion Rebecca Soni, Mayor Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, actresses Monique Coleman and Amber Heard – and one more surprise guest -- check out the blog to find out who it was!
Be sure to look for our Unite for Girls Tour events in your city in 2011! Until then, check out our blogs, photos, and videos below from our Unite for Girls LA stop!

Girls and boys from all over LA joined us at the Unite for Girls Pep Rally in Los Angeles to learn about the lives of girls in Malawi, Liberia, Guatemala, and Ethiopia, and to start to take action by getting involved in Girl Up.
The Unite for Girls tour is in Los Angeles this week, and we got off to a great start with a high-energy event at Variety last night. Over 200 people came together to celebrate Girl Up and give a High Five for girls around the world.
