My name is Meghan Murray and I am 14 years old. I am the second oldest of five girls, and I live in Chevy Chase, Md. I am attending my first year at Georgetown Visitation High School, and I am very enthusiastic to start my new, challenging beginning as a high school student.

Other than school, I enjoy playing sports such as soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and running track. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, listening to music, and doing arts and crafts. But more than anything, I love traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, and learning about a variation of interesting lifestyles.

I became involved with Girl Up through one of their partners, GirlsUp.  GirlsUp is extremely significant to me because it was founded by my mom, and it is a summer camp to help girls become more confident in themselves and who they truly are. I am very excited to start my Girl Up experience as I am determined to help girls around the world, who are just like me, become more independent so they can make their own choices with their lives. I am also thrilled to meet many new girls whom I can bond with while helping girls around the world with their future.  I hope that together we can raise awareness for this spectacular campaign so that one day girls internationally can have the freedoms they deserve.
