I’m a senior at Carpinteria High School and I live in the coastal Southern California town of Carpinteria.
I love music, so I play flute in the school band and I sing in the vocal ensemble. I am also enjoy playing tennis, going to the beach, hiking, sailing, and reading.
This is my second year participating in Girl Up as a Teen Advisor. I became a Teen Advisor through my involvement in the national non-profit partner organization Girls Inc., participating in its local theater program and volunteering as a counselor.
Outside my involvement with Girls Inc. and Girl Up, I’m very active in the Junior State of America (JSA), which is a national student-run debate society.
This year I’m serving as the Southern California Speaker of the Assembly in JSA. One of my other main interests is science, and I have further developed this passion as a student “Argonaut” with the JASON Project internship program, a subsidiary of National Geographic.
Girl Up allows me to combine my interests in politics and issues affecting girls to help create change on a global level.
