Joi Collette Stevens

My name is Joi Stevens I am a current junior at Saint Mary’s Hall a private college prep school in San Antonio, TX were I’m known for my bubbly smiles and compassion towards others.

I am very passionate about developing, organizing, and implementing programs domestic and internationally in the campaign I launched a year ago name “A Healing Promise” focusing on gender and social equality for all especially girls.

I am no stranger to resolving conflicts often referred to as the peacemaker amongst my peers, family, and members of the community. I hope I can empower young girls to be secure permeating a desire and expectation to raise their voices for change.

As the Founder/CEO of “Joi Bears” and “Joi Bears A Healing Promise Foundation” a non-profit organization, “Preserving the Spirit of Children through a Global Outreach” with my focus on children facing some of life most challenging circumstances.

I have debated political issues as a member of the Model United Nations (MUN), Junior Statesman of America (JSA) and Texas Historian Society.

I often spend my time tutoring students in math and numerous community service projects.

I also enjoy doing research at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) Voelcker Biomedical Research Academy and Southwest Research Institute (SWRI), through the American Chemical Society.

I play Varsity Field Hockey and for the USA Field Hockey Olympic Futures Program.

As proclaimed self-motivator and a community youth activist, I am excited to be a Teen Advisor where I can integrating both the mission of Running Start “to inspire young women and girls to political leadership” and Girls Inc.’s mission “inspiring all girls to be Smart, Strong, and Bold,” with the mission of Girl Up focusing on global challenges such as underage marriage, inadequate health care, HIV/AIDS awareness and equality in education.
