My name is Jillian Murray and I am 14 years old.
My dad, four younger sisters and I all live together in Chevy Chase, MD. I participate in many different activities throughout the year.
First, I am involved in a program started in 2008 called Girls Up.
This program helps empower girls in our community to become independent, confident, and strong. Being on the teen advisory board means that I have to help with the scheduling, the marketing, and the summer camp itself.
This program is very meaningful to me because it was started by my mom in her hope to spread the message of leadership and strength to girls around the world. I hope that through both programs, Girls Up and Girl Up, I will be able to do the same.
I also enjoy playing soccer, running track, swimming, playing guitar, baking, and hanging out with my family and friends as well as vacationing during the summer.
Finally I work part time during the summer at little boutique in Chevy Chase.
I am looking forward to being a 2011 Girl Up teen advisor because it will give me a unique opportunity to help girls in developing countries to also become independent, confident and strong.
I can’t wait to spread the word about Girl Up and get my community involved so that together we can change lives of girls everywhere.
