My name is Charlotte May and I am a GirlUp Advisor for 2011- 2012.

I live in Bronxville, NY, and this fall I will be a Junior at Hackley School in Tarrytown New York. I have been there since Kindergarten.

Not only am I a “Lifer” at Hackley, I am also a managing editor of the Vision, the literary arts magazine, and the co-president of our GSA.

I am active in theater, and last year wrote and directed an original play at Hackley. I am also and ambassador and tour guide with the admissions department at my school.

I love to write poetry and have won the Scholastic Gold Key award and am the two-time winner of the Youth Writers Award in Chautauqua New York.

Along with being a member of the Softball team, I am also the captain and Keeper of the Hackley Hippogriffs Quidditch Team, a club team I started.

I’ve also helped prepare for a GirlUp Pep rally at my school. I’m involved in service through my church, doing midnight runs and breakfast runs for the homeless in New York City.

I also sing in the choir. On weekends, I like to go horseback riding and eat ice cream (chocolate chip cookie dough) followed by a long walk with my dog, Twist!
 
I am so excited to be a member of the Girl Up team and can’t wait to get this year started!

I hope we’ll be able to make a change in our communities and in the world girl by girl. I can’t wait to meet other girls who make a difference and I hope to help share their stories with the rest of the world.
