Hi! My name is Angelique Gaston and I am from Washington, D.C. I am 16 years old and a junior at School Without Walls Senior High School. 

I am involved in many activities such as African dance, the Journalism Club and lacrosse. I am also a part of the Divine Images Mentoring Group in Washington, D.C. where I not only have a mentor myself, but I am a role model and mentor for younger girls in the group.

In this organization, I have traveled to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where I did community service for a week.

It was a wonderful experience because I got to put smiles on people's faces and really learn to be more appreciative of the people and things I have!

I have earned an award for public speaking and community service. I have also volunteered at local nursing homes, food banks, and annual community holiday events.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, journaling, designing and sewing clothes, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

I am very excited to be a GirlUp advisor because I love to help others and I enjoy socializing and meeting new people.

This is also a great way for me to connect with other girls around the world for a great cause. It's a wonderful feeling to know that I can help change a girl's life for the better!
