Hi, I’m Aditi! I was born in the Bay Area and have lived here all my life.

I’m 17 and a senior at Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California. At school, I’m involved in the performing arts department, Speech and Debate, Gay Straight Alliance club, and on the field hockey team.

Outside of school, I enjoy getting cultured by watching classic movies and reading.

I love to volunteer!

I believe that as somebody who has so much, it’s important for me to give back. I’m a twelfth-year Girl Scout and will be serving as a National Delegate at the National Conference in November 2011.

For my Girl Scout Silver Award, I created a video educating others on adolescent depression and presented it in front of several different audiences. Now I’m working on my Gold Award and hope to impact the lives of those in my community.

I’m also on my city’s Youth Advisory Council, which allows me to get involved in the government aspect of the city, and the Teen Leadership Council, which strives to improve police-youth relations and which is the only such program in the nation.

One of my favorite parts of participating in these activities is meeting people of different backgrounds, especially those who have overcome incredible obstacles.

I am honored and excited to be involved with the Girl Up campaign.

It’s an extraordinary cause and a unique opportunity to make a difference globally. I believe that everybody has a voice, and I intend to make mine heard while helping others find theirs.
