Girls Inc., a nonprofit organization that inspires girls to be strong, smart, and bold through a network of local organizations in the United States, has joined the Girl Up movement as a founding partner.
The partnership is a natural fit, as Girls Inc. has a long and celebrated history of responding to the changing needs of girls and their communities through research-based programs and advocacy that empower girls to reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights. In existence since 1864 at the local level, Girls Inc. has had a national presence since 1945, and uses research-based informal education programs that encourage girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Their major programs address math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, and sports participation.
Girls Inc. supports the Girl Up “Unite for Girls” Tour in local communities, and spreads the word about the Girl up campaign to its local chapters, partners, and affiliates. With both organizations working toward the goal of empowering girls to be the best they can be, this partnership only brings fantastic results.
